Enchanting India

My first trip to India four years ago was a revelation: the sounds, scents, colours and chaos so seductive. My latest trip has deepened my love for this exotic other world and inspired the beginning of a new collection, to be revealed later in the year. Karauli with its exquisite 14th century palace, a festival for Shiva with ladies in their gorgeous saris processing through the streets; the sparkle of the sun on gold and silver threads and the magical mirrored ceilings in the Amber Fort have provided me with a wealth of inspiration.

My previous collection inspired by India, Rêves De L’Inde came about on a visit to the Rajasthan city of Bundi, where I explored the spectacular Mogul palace and where a shrine high above the palace, perching at the top of a hill, captured my imagination. Its pretty petal shaped dome was a delight and on closer inspection this lovely image was repeated throughout the decoration of this beautiful building. The seeds of my collection had been sown.

Best, Esther.
